Sandra Sanchez is a Southern California–born artist whose work blends illustration with realistic portraiture, creating vivid and dynamic paintings. Inspired by early visits to The Getty Museum and a childhood interest in video games and digital art, she pursued classical training at Grand Central Atelier, where she developed strong technical skills in oil painting and realism.
Since returning to California in 2022, Sandra has combined classical techniques with contemporary subjects drawn from film, video games, and anime, while continuing her practice in pure realism. She is a recipient of multiple awards and a two-time Hudson River Fellow, and is also the co-founder of the Peru Academy of Art in Lima.

WORKSHOP NOVEMBER 2025
MASTER COPY
During this Compositional Master Copy course, participants refined their technical oil painting skills while developing a deeper understanding of design, planning, and execution. They explored the importance of shapes and simplified values in building strong compositions, and through focused lessons on value and color, gained the foundational tools needed to approach a variety of subjects. Over the course of the workshop, students strengthened their ability to make confident, informed decisions, equipping them to create more intentional and personal artworks moving forward.
Throughout the experience, Sandra shared masterwork examples, encouraging questions and open discussion that enriched the learning process. Students began with a block-in using oil paint, developed a clear and effective poster study, and completed a fully rendered master copy. With personalized feedback tailored to each participant’s goals, they were able to address individual challenges while building on their strengths, leaving the workshop with a more structured and confident approach to composition and painting.
